FOSP Projects

In addition to museum docenting, helping out at student workshops, maintaining the trails, gardens and historic Kannally Ranch House, assisting at special events and programs, writing grants and the like, FOSP Volunteers support the Park in the following specific projects:

Environmental Education
  • Improve storage and accessibility in the Volunteer Room
  • Acquire modern visual aids equipment
  • Fund the purchase of needed educational items
Preservation of Historic Sites
  • Fund plants and plant identification tags for landscaping
  • Acquire Kannally family paintings and photographs
  • Purchase draperies for the Great Room
  • Obtain 1920-1940 era novels and reference books for Great Room bookcases
  • Obtain period furnishings
Enhance Outdoor Recreation
  • Support trail work with equipment as needed
  • Fund trail signs and guided tour maps
  • Preservation/Restoration of Wildlife and Grasslands
  • Maintain viewing blind and watering troughs
  • Support horse patrol of fence line to exclude cattle
